I would say that it falls under the dessert category because of the sweet chocolate and nut flavors. As I was drinking, I realized it is kind of like a smoothie version of a Mexican hot cocoa. Yum. It’s also pretty heavy (I mean almost “eat-with-a-spoon” heavy, so get ready!). Recipe is gluten-free, vegan, raw, and paleo friendly.
RECIPE: Serves 2+
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk
2 Majool dates (pitted)
2 Tbsp almond butter
2 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 tsp chili pepper flakes (or to taste – when in doubt, start smaller)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp tumeric powder
*Turn this recipe into ICE CREAM by placing your smoothie into the freezer overnight!
Bananas: Potassium, dietary fiber, manganese and vitamins B6 & C
Coconut Milk: Protein, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, folate, vitamin C, E, K, B6, calcium, and so much more!
