healthy smoothie, coconut milk, dairy-free

For the love of music, in honor of Daft Punk’s release of “Get Lucky”, I figured I would spice up the mood with a sexy smoothie recipe! It’s so creamy and irresistible with a mysterious little kick that will leave you intrigued.

…That’s what she said.

I would say that it falls under the dessert category because of the sweet chocolate and nut flavors. As I was drinking, I realized it is kind of like a smoothie version of a Mexican hot cocoa. Yum. It’s also pretty heavy (I mean almost “eat-with-a-spoon” heavy, so get ready!). Recipe is gluten-free, vegan, raw, and paleo friendly.

RECIPE: Serves 2+

1 1/2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk
1 banana
2 Majool dates (pitted)
2 Tbsp almond butter
2 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 tsp chili pepper flakes (or to taste – when in doubt, start smaller)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp tumeric powder

I put my banana and coconut milk in a bag in the freezer until cold and slushie – feel free to store overnight. (This is optional, but I think it adds a nice cold temperature and thicker consistency).
Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth!
