THE PERFECT RAW PROTEIN SMOOTHIE BASE

AKA: “Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass” by !!!

I’m going to enjoy summer while we still have it… our garden is still vibrant and the tempurature is quite hot over here in Chicago. So, smoothies are still a great way to start the day.

Only 4 ingredients? Yes! Any good smoothie needs a good BASE. This base recipe is meant to be thick and creamy, and while is is SO GOOD on its own, you have the freedom to add just about anything you want to change it up!

This recipe is vegetarian, vegan, raw, pale, gluten-free, dairy-free and yummy!

BASE RECIPE
Serving size about 2 (if you add other ingredients, it will increase)

2 ripe bananas (freeze beforehand if you want a thicker, cold smoothie)
3/4 cup coconut milk (to cut back on calories, use almond milk)
2 Tblsp almond butter
Either 1/2 tablespoon of stevia, 1 tablespoon of honey OR 2 medjool dates

OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:
Add some or all of these for some extra yummy-goodness (that’s a technical term there)

2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons cocoa powder

You can also add a cup of your favorite berries, peaches, pumpkin, carrots… the options are endless!

Place all ingredients in a food processor or strong blender. Pulse until smooth. Add coconut milk if it is too thick. If you did not freeze your bananas beforehand, you can freeze this mixture for a few hours and it will get thick and cold!

Like I said, I made the base, only added cinnamon, and thought it was yummy just like that, but it will be fun to play with some of these other ingredients.

    • Sorry I am not sure how to find out kcal, but here are the calories:
If you use coconut milk and stevia as sweetener…
      Calories: 358
If you use almond milk and stevia as sweetener…
      Calories: 223
*Disclaimer: Please note that these are not EXACT measurements. I entered all ingredients into MyFitnessPal and divided out the serving size for easier use. If you have a nutritional requirement, I suggest that you may want to formulate your own nutrition facts based on your needs. Thanks!
