tomato sauce, pasta sauce, organic

As you know, I am all about making your own food. Ideally, I would make everything all the time! But sometimes, I have to be a little realistic with my busy schedule. I’ve set out to sample and review products that will make our lives easier if we could just spend a few bucks instead of an extra hour or two in the day. The rules? It should fit into the “real food” category – it should have ingredients we could all purchase at home and feel good about eating!

What’s the deal with pasta sauces? I haven’t bought a pasta sauce in over a year because of all the additives. For example, looking at a jar of Prego, the ingredients list includes sugar as the 3rd ingredient, canola oil and “natural flavoring” – whatever that may be.

So yes, I finally found a pasta sauce that tastes good, is healthy, has great (and organic) ingredients, and reasonably priced! Created by MamaJess, who was inspired by feeding her own family the best ingredients – while making sure everyone was eating their veggies! Jessica (MamaJess) “developed hundreds of grocery store products and she became inspired to create something less processed, something she’d feel good about feeding her own family, something made with organic ingredients, free of sugar and preservatives.”

The Label Says: organic, vegan, no preservatives, gluten free, no artificial colors, no high fructose corn syrup, no sugar added

The Ingredients: organic tomato puree (water, organic tomato paste), organic carrots, organic sweet potato juice, organic onion, organic olive oil, organic red bell pepper, organic garlic, sea salt, organic spices, citric acid.

The Healthy Beast Review: Simply bought at my grocery store, I was able to save time and energy. MamaJess’s pasta sauce tastes great! Not overly salted, it is like eating cooked tomatoes combined with veggies and spices (what a concept!). It is just how I would love it to taste if I did make it myself. I was worried that it would be bitter without all the added sugar, but I was glad to be proved wrong about that. So what’s the 8 grams of sugar showing up on the label? Those are natural, straight from the veggies! Yum!

It’s easy to say… I’m obsessed with MamaJess! I can’t wait to try other MamaJess products! Besides the 5 veggies sauce, her company also sells ketchup, bean pasta sauce, and enchilada sauce.

Add the garden good sauce to your spaghetti squash, eggplant rollups, zucchini noodles, pizza, or whatever needs an easy-to-pour helping of tomato sauce!

*NOTE: I have not been swayed by MamaJess in anyway. They did not pay me, they did not even send me free stuff (bummer, right?). On the bright side, that means that this review is totally un-biased!
