So I’ll admit it, I bought my Veggetti at least 2 months ago, so this post is arriving a little late.
What is a “Veggetti”?
It’s a spiral vegetable slicer that can be used to turn things like zucchinis, carrots, potatoes into “noodle” shapes. You can then put the veggies on salad, turn your zucchini into “pasta”, potatoes into hash browns, etc. There are tons of recipes online!
So far, it’s been awesome. I use it all the time, at least once a week to make our new favorite dish: “zoodles” covered in a homemade tomato sauce. I am excited to try a stir fry dish this week too!
“Does it taste like pasta?”
This is one of the first questions I always get. NO. It does not. You should not expect your zucchini noodles to taste like grains, because they are not. However, they do not have an overpowering flavor, so it is easy to cover in sauce. It will feel like you are eating noodles because of the shape.
So, What’s the Point?
Zucchini noodles are a great option if you are trying to live a healthier lifestyle or if you are trying to lose weight. Veggie noodles are less calories and less carbs. It is also great for those picky eaters who need to get more servings of vegetables into their daily lives!
-I can eat noodle dishes easily and not have to worry about gluten, grains, carbs, calories that come with the normal pasta options
-It’s easy to use, quick to prepare
-Cheap! (mine was only $14.99)
-Comes with instructions on how to prepare veggies, and simple sauce recipes
-Can be hard to clean, the food gets stuck in the little blades (so I try to immediately power rinse the food away)
-If you need to spiral cut a lot of veggies at once, it might be easier with a spiral slicer that has a crank and a stand. This one is handheld, so there will be a lot of twisting motion going on!
Where Can You Buy One?
You can buy one on their website: www.buyveggetti.com
It is also available on Amazon, at some Target stores, and Bed Bath & Beyond stores
*NOTE: I have not been swayed by the “Veggetti” company in anyway. They did not pay me, they did not even send me free stuff (bummer, right?). On the bright side, that means that this review is totally un-biased!
