It’s fun to indulge in a treat once in awhile, but with this recipe… you won’t have to feel so guilty about it! Incorporate a delicious dessert flavor into your protein smoothie for a healthy treat! This recipe is vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, paleo.
Before I start, let me say that while it may seem strange to add lemon juice to a chocolate recipe, the sour flavor from the lemon mixed with the cashews really creates a cheese-like taste (without adding dairy!). Try it, you might just like it!
RECIPE (Serves 1)
1/2 cup almond milk
1 scoop (half serving) of protein powder*
1/4 cup cashews
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 Tablespoon of Maple Syrup
1 Tablespoon of Cocoa powder
1 cup Ice
*Protein Powder: Depending on your protein powder, a full serving is recommended in “scoops”. If your typical full serving is 1 scoop, please only use half. If your typical full serving is 2 scoops, please use 1 scoop. The reason for this is because there will be added protein, fat and calories from the cashews. When choosing a protein powder, look at ingredients to make sure you recognize them all. Two of my favorite protein powders are: Aloha Protein Powder and Vega Protein Powder.
Juice the lemon, there should be about 2+ Tablespoons of lemon juice. Put all ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
